Samuel Howard Nixon Ancestors Lost, Now Found My grandmother Ethel Nixon of Waynetown, Montgomery Co., the daughter of Samuel Howard Nixon (b. 5 April 1854 in Iowa) said there were as many stories about what happened to his father, Samuel Nixon Jr. (b. 1827 Ohio), as there were a people who had the stories to tell. She had heard everything from "just disappeared" to headed west to California for gold. Samuel Nixon and Mary Jane McKinsey are listed as the parents of Samuel Howard Nixon. Samuel Howard Nixon's obituary, death certificate, family history, etc., all mention his mother, Mary Jane McKinsey or McKinzie and father, Samuel Nixon and half siblings named Newkirk. All records, except the 1860 census, which showed him born in Iowa, as was his oldest half-brother John, indicated he was born in Indiana. This seemed confusing to me because I could find no record of marriage or divorce in IN for Mary Jane McKinsey and Samuel Nixon Jr.

NOTE: I am usually GREAT at writing down who gave me information on various families but OBVIOUSLY I did not do that this time - so thank you, thank you, thank you, to whomever gave me this obit AND is searching this family -- oh, according to my website, I see that it is Judie C but no e-mail address - I'm SOOOO sorry
