WAYNETOWN--Word was received here Wednesday at the death Tuesday evening at 9:30 o'clock at Kokomo of Mrs. Mary Ellen Nixon, 90 long-time resident of the Waynetown community. Mrs. Nixon lived in and around this city all of her life until four years ago when she left to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd M. Pitzer, at whose home she died. Mrs. Nixon had been in failing health for the past year and seriously ill one month. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. Born April 24, 1862 in Montgomery Country, she was the daughter of David and Mary Jane (Cedars) Shafer. She was married to Samuel H. Nixon, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Nixon was a member of the Alto Methodist Church and of the Ladies Aid Society of the Christian Union Church. Surviving, besides Mrs. Pitzer, are a step-daughter, Mrs. Ethel Bell, of Tacoma, Washington; three stepsons, Rev. Everett Nixon of Kokomo, John Nixon of Crawfordsville and James Nixon of near Waynetown; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock (CDST) from the Jacobs Funeral Home in Kokomo. Rev. John Servies of Crawfordsville will be in charge and burial will be in Crown Point cemetery at Kokomo.
