Waynetown - James Nixon, 87, of Rt 1, died Saturday evening in Culver Hospital. Mr. Nixon had been a dairy farmer in the Waynetown area while health permitted. He was a member of Christian Union Church, east of Waynetown, the Crawfordsville VFW Post and Montgomery County Farm Bureau. He was a veteran of WWI, having served in France. Born May 5, 1893 on the farm where he lived all his life, he was a son of Samuel and Mahala Huff Nixon. He married in 1934 to Irene Shafer in Danville, Ill, who survives. Also surviving are a foster son, Thomas Newlin of Crawfordsville; four nieces, Mrs. Mary Knutsen and Mrs. Mildred Prestella of Washington; Mrs. Alice Newlin of Herbyville, Texas, and Mrs. Evelyn Fierke of St. Petersburg, FLA and 10 foster grandchildren. He wa spreceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. WB Jenkins and Rev. Frank Howard officiating. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with military graveside rites given by Waynetown American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.
