Funeral services for Rev. Everett Nixon of Kokomo, a native of Montgomery County were conducted Monday at Eilers Funeral Chapel in Kokomo with Rev. Herbert Moore and Rev. Walter McAdams officiating. burial was in Crown Point Cemetery. Rev. Nixon, a resident of Kokomo since 1907 died early Sunday morning in St. Joseph Hospital there after a brief illness. Rev. Nixon retired in 1964 after having served pastorates at Beamer Methodist, Caseville, Cloverdale, West Middletown, 12 mile, Hillisburg, Darrough Chapel, Antioch, Pipe Creek Falls, Upper Deer Creek, Young America and Blue Ball Christian Church west of Walton. When he retired after serving the various churches for 52 years, he was pastor of Deer Creek United Church of Christ and had served as its minister 18 years. Born Jan 22, 1884 in Montgomery County he was a son of Samuel and Mahalia Huff Nixon. He married Ruby Comer in 1907. She died in 1952. In 1953, he married Mysia Hoback who survives. He had served as a city councilman at Kokomo under the administrations of two mayors and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star and Order of Modern Woodmen of America. In addition to the widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Warner Fierke of Kokomo; two brothers, John Nixon of near Crawfordsville and James NIxon of Waynetown, a sister, Mrs. Ethel Bell of Tacoma, Wash; a half sister, Mrs. Lloyd Pitzer of Kokomo; a stepson, James Greer of Kokomo; three stepdaughtesr, Mrs. Sherman Steenman, Mrs. Royce Cage and Mrs. Ronald Grant all of Kokomo; 3 granddaughters and 10 great grandchildren.
