Oct 17 - A message was received here this morning at an early hour which told that Mrs. Laura Nicholson, aged about 55, wife of Reese Nicholson, had dropped dead at her home in Noblesville. Richard Gill, Mrs. Wallace Quinley and Mrs. Murat Cheshire left at once for Noblesville and will bring the body back here this evening or on Sunday. The funeral will take place here with interment in Ladoga Cemetery. Mrs. Nicholson moved with her husband to Noblesville about 3 years ago. Prior to that time all her life they had resided in this place. Mrs. Nicholson was Miss Laura Himes prior to her marriage with Mr. Nicholson which occurred about 1875 (note: married 14 Dec 1876 Montgomery County Marriage Book 8 p 499). Her parents have been dead many years. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson resided here for many years where the husband was engaged in the monument business with Ed Fuller. Four children were born to them, three daughters and one son. One of the daughters, Miss Zoe Nichoson died about a year ago in Indianapolis and was laid to rest in the Ladoga Cemetery. Another daughter died several years ago. The surviving daughter is Mrs. Edna Merchant of Noblesville and the son who survives in Gerald Nicholson, also of Noblesville. The husband also survives. Mrs. Nicholson was here last week and was the guest or Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gill. At that time she was apparently in good health but as a matter of fact was suffering from kidney trouble. Both Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson have grieved very much because of the death of their daughter, Miss Zoe, and some of their friends here believe Mrs. Nicholson's death was hastened thereby. The deceased was a member of the Christian Church and had been for many years. Her sudden death came as a great shock to her large circle of friends in this place. The body will be taken to the home of a cousin, John F. Himes, north of here and it is expected the funeral will be Sunday but that was not fully decided upton this afternoon. -- kbz
