Harvey Harley Newnum, 85, a resident of this community (Yeddo) most of his life, died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Rudisill Nursing Home, Covington after an illness of one year. Mr. Newnum was a member of the Centennial EUB Church here and caretaker of its cemetery more than 50 years. He was a farmer most of his life and during WWII he worked at the Wabash River Ordnance Works. He was born near Yeddo on July 19, 1882 to Edward and Viola (Redenbaugh) Newnum. His marriage to Daisy Smith was in 1906. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ollie Brammer of Milford, Ill; Mrs. Martha Abernathy of Rt 1, Covington and Mrs. Katheryn Dowden and Mrs. Laeta Mears of Veedersburg; a son, Harvey Jr. of Veedersburg; a brother, Milford of near Kingman and 9 grandchildren and two greats. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1952 a son, Glenwood , three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. Burial will be in Centennial Cemetery. Friends may pay respects at the funeral home after noon today. - kbz
