Edgar Orestus Newnum, 67, died at Culver hospital Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. from burns received while dragging a Fountain County Road on Wednesday, Sept 26. He suffered severe burns on the chest and arms when his clothing caught fire as he attempted to extinguish a fire which started in the tractor he was using. He was employed as a truck driver with the Fountain County Highway garage. Born on Aug 2, 1884, in Parke County, he was the son of John Bennet and Eluizia Atkinson Newnum. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Yeddo and the Centennial EUB Church, Yeddo. Surviving are his wife, Fanny; one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Carter of Kingman; two sons, Edgar Wayne and Glen; both of Kingman; one sister, Mrs. Mary Robbins of Marshall; two brothers, roy of Cayuga and Marshall of Illinois; and four grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Woodrow Funeral Home, Kingman after 1 p.m. Thursday. Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Centennial EUB Church, Yeddo with Rev. Bennett Fulp officiating. Burial will follow in the Centennial EUB Church cemetery. - kbz
