Crawfordsville, Ind – The Rev. William H. Newlin, 71, a minister in Indiana and Illinois for 42 years died at his home here after an extended illness which compelled his retirement four years ago. Born on a farm near Hillsboro, Newlin was educated at Transylvania University, Lexington, Ky and Butler University, Indianapolis. In addition to the pastorates in Ky and Ill he had held pastorates in Indiana at Arcadia, Jamestown, Ladoga, Brownsburg, Bicknell, Waynetown, Darlington, Fillmore and Parkersburg. Survivors include his widow; a son, John B. Newlin, a lawyer; a twin brother, John H. Newlin, Indianapolis; two other brothers, Samuel J. Newlin, Indianapolis and George E. Newlin, Baltimore; two sisters, Mrs. May Janeway, Hillsboro and Mrs. Lena Saltzgaver, Gessie; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Rosetta Newlin, Waynetown. – kbz
