Newlin - Nancy Rivers

Hillsboro -- Mrs. Nancy Newlin, 83 years of age, one of the older residents of this community died at her home in Hillsboro Tuesday morning at 5 o'clock, her death being due largely to the infirmities of age. She had been in declining health for the past few years and had been bedfast for more than two weeks suffering from an attack of influenza. "Aunt Nancy" as she was known to many residents, was well known as a Christian woman, an excellent mother and neighbor. She was born on a farm in the Antioch neighborhood northeast of here, November 24, 1842 the daughter of John & Sarah Rivers. She has spent her entire life in this community. She was united in marriage to John Newlin and all of their married life was spent on a farm near here. The husband and two children preceded her in death and she is survived by five sons, Rev. Will Newlin of Bicknell, John & Sam Newlin of Florida and Emerson Newlin residing in the Ingersoll neighborhood near here and two daughters, Mrs. May Janeway of near here and Mrs. (Miss?) Lenna who resided with her mother. The funeral services were (sic - according to information below will be) held at the Christian Church of which the deceased was an active member, Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The body will be taken to the Church at 1:45 and will lie in state until 2:30. Rev. OW McGaughey of Veedersburg will have charge of the service and interment will be made in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
