WAVELAND - Luther Boyd Newlin, 69, of Rt. 1 Waveland, a carpenter and bricklayer and member of union Local 274, died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday in his home. He had been a field representative of the trade union for five years Mr. Newlin was an Army veteran of World War II and member of the American Legion at Waveland. Born May 30 1905, at Somerset, Ky., he was a son of Fred and Ida Newlin. He was married May 8, 1954, to Hazel Shapell, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Delbert (Dora) Wright of Greenville, Miss., and Mrs. William (Jean) Donovan of Walaston, Mass.; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Schenck, of Crawfordsville; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and 19 nieces and nephews. Eight brothers and a sister are deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home, with internment in Oak Hill Cemetery.
