Wallace -- Joseph NEWKIRK, 92, retired farmer and lifelong resident of the Wallace community died Thursday morning at the Masonic Home in Franklin where he had lived for the past 6 years. He had been ill since July 15. Born Sept 16, 1862 in Jackson Township, Fountain County. Mr. Newkirk was the s/o John & Eliz. Bowman Newkirk pioneer Fountain County couple. Mr. Newkirk who had engaged in farming most of his life was a member of the Wallace Lutheran Church Masonic Lodge & OES. Surviving are 4 grandchildren, two nephews, John War, Supt of Mont Co schools, Prof Jesse Ward of Toledo OH and several other nephews and a number of nieces. The body was taken to the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. Eston Myers in Wallace. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
