NEW RICHMOND — Claude F. Nesbitt, 89, of New Richmond died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday in Carmen Nursing Home at Crawfordsville. He had been ill about two months. Mr. Nesbitt was a retired farmer, a member of New Richmond United Methodist Church and a charter member of the New Richmond Farm Bureau. He had lived at New Richmond most of his life. He was born Feb. 3, 1889 at Georgetown, Ill., a son of Robert C. and Elnora Rhuebey Nesbitt. In 1913 he was married at New Richmond to the former Nelle Davisson, who died in 1948. In 1956 he was married at New Richmond to the former Elnora Lane, who survives. He was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School and had been captain of the high school football team which was undefeated in 1910. Other survivors are three sons, David Nesbitt of New Richmond, Robert Nesbitt of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and Gene Nesbitt of West Lafayette; two step-sons, R. Franklin Lane of Lafayette and Richard E. Lane of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Herman Nesbitt of New Richmond; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in New Richmond United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barry Fitzgerald officiating. The body will lie in state one hour preceding the service. Interment will be in New Richmond Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Saturday in Helms & Hahn Funeral Home at Linden. - kbz
