Naylor - George N (1933)

Major George N. Naylor died last night following a short illness. His passing will come as a shock to many as he had many friends and only a few were aware of his illness. He was born in Crawfordsville, Ind. in 1851 and was 81 years of age. He was well acquainted and was a close friend of General Lew Wallace, author of "Ben Hur." His title of major was given him in Indiana as a member of the Indiana infantry. Santa Cruz had been his home since 1907, with the exception of a few years spent at San Juan Bautista. He conducted on the east side gents furnishing goods, store and was in charge of a branch post office in his store. Mr. Naylor was a communicant of Calvary Episcopal church and at one time served as a member of the vestry. He was a devoted member of his church. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Leonora Penniman, wife of H.W.H. Penniman, and Louise Swinford, wife of John Swinford.
