Mary Elizabeth Myers, daughter of Elijah and Christina Sowers, was born on a farm near Wallace, Fountain County, Indiana February 24, 1850. Here she grew to womanhood and October 7, 1869, she was united in marriage with John A. Myers, and to this union 7 children were born, all of whom survive. Soon after her marriage she and her hsuband began housekeeping on the farm where she passed away, having lived continuously on the one farm for 47 years. In early girlhood she united with the Evangelistial Lutheran Church and continued a faithful member of that church. She lived happily with her husband until his passing, which was July 20, 1922 since which time she and her daughter, Miss Tina, have lived together in the old home. She had been seriously ill for the past 9 weeks and while all was done for her that loving hands of her children could do, yet it was without avail,f or in the morning hours of Friday, May 14th she passed peacefully away at the age of 76Y, 2M, 20D; leaving to mourn two daughters, Miss Tina at home; Mrs. Charles Canine of Marshall; five sons, Lonnie of Waveland; Charles E. near Waynetown; Walla of Peoria, ill; Elijah of Baltimore Md and Tine of Waveland; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. T.J. Allen of Hillsboro; one brother, Loranzo Myers (sic) near Marshall; many other relatives and a host of friends. Truly she was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a good neighbor and a true friend. Her life was so lived that it will be a sweet benediction to her children, and a pleasant memory as the days pass into week, weeks into months and months into years. Her life has been so lived that it has left its impression for good upon all who have known her, throughout these many years. She has paid the price that all humanity has or will be obliged to pay. She has gone to meet those who have gone before, and unto her reward, and may peace be unto her departed soul. kbz
