Mrs. Lena CANINE MYERS, 81 year old, native of the Waveland community, died Friday at 2:20 a.m. at her home in New Market. She had been ill two years with a heart ailment. Born March 31, 1877, she was the daughter of George and Martha Mitchell Canine. She was married near Freedom to Edward D. Myers on Oct 8, 1896. Mrs. Myers was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church. Survivors include the husband; 3 sons; Glenn R. of Crawfordsville; Roy L. of Indianapolis; and Everett of Lafayette; and a daughter, Goldie Meadows of Roachdale. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at Freedom Baptist Church with Rev. CW Mears of Spencer officiating. Pallbearers were Wilford Greves; John and Nelson Bayless; Lloyd Jeffers; Sam Priebe and Harold VanCleave. Carlos Hopkins and Leo Isaac and David Wiatt sang, Going Down the Valley and Beyond the Sunset accompanied by Wanetta Wiatt. Interment was in Freedom Cemetery. - transcribed by kbz
