Linden news - Last Sunday evening at sun-down, JK Myers, better known as Uncle John and living one and a half miles northeast of here, died of lung fever. He had been sick one week and two days, but very few of the neighbors knew of his sickness until the day before his death, he not being considered dangerous earlier than the Friday evening before his death. He was a native of Kentucky, batchelor and 64 years of age. For upward of 20 years he had been living with his sister, Mrs. Tribby and her family. For the last 10 years, the family hnad consisted of Uncle John, Mrs. Tribby and her sister and daughter, Capt. and Nancy. They have in the meantime accumulated considerable property. Uncle John and Captain holding a partnership of 120 acres of land, stock, etc. Uncle John was considered a good neighbor by all, and we shall all miss him greatly, but no one else as much as Captain who always looked to him for advice and counsel. He was buried at New Richmond on Wednesday. Mrs. Tribby is also very sick and was unable to attend the funeral - transcribed by

Death Roll - John Ellis, at one time foreman of
the gas works in this city, died last Tuesday at Indianapolis. John K. Myers of
Coal Creek Township, died last Monday evening at the age of 64 years. Interment
at New Richmond. R.W. Johnson, died last Monday at his home, five
miles east of here at the age of 75 years. The remains were buried at Oak Hill.
Calloway Nosler died last Tuesday night at the residence of
his son-in-law, George Dickinson, age 57 years. Nosler was a soldier int he
late war and was a well-known citizen.
