Myers - Harry Poke

Waynetown- - Harry (Poke) Myers, 70, died at 1:25 p.m. Monday at his home here. He had been in failing health four years and seriously ill six weeks. Born Sept. 9, 1889, in Harveysburg, he was a son of James and Mary Briggs Myers. He was married Aug. 9, 1929, to Bertha Coleman. They were married at Jeffersonville. Mr. Myers was a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Crawfordsville and attended Harveysburg and Wayentown schools. He was last employed by the Indiana State Patrol. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I with the 152nd Regiment Supply Company in the seventh Infantry. He served in Company C one year on the Mexican border during World War I. Survivors include the wife; two brothers, Paul of Lafayette and Ray of Palm Beach, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Hollis Sumner of Crawfordsville and several nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. Funeral rites are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Servies Funeral Home with Rev. Guy E. Tremaine in charge. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
