George Fred Myers, Sr. of Midland, Ind father of Mrs. Elizabeth R. Rankin, Rt 1, Ladoga died Friday morning of a heart attack in the hospital where he had been a patient for the past two months. Mr. Myers was born at Rockville ON Oct 31, 1874, the youngest of four children of Julia Musser and Charles Ira Myers. Most of Mr. Myers’ life was spent in and around Crawfordsville. His wife, who died April 24 of this year, was the former Emma B. Hunt, also of Crawfordsville. While residents of this city, Mr. and Mrs. Myers’ residence was the General Manson home on West Market Street where Mrs. Rankin was born. Mr. Myers was a retired Monon conductor, having had 36 years of service with that railroad. He resided in Lafayette about 20 years. Mr. and Mrs. Myers had made their home at Midland after his retirement and for several years prior. Survivors in addition to Mrs. Rankin, are six other children: June A. Caldwell of Mildland, Delight A. Flint of Swainsboro, GA; Julia A. Landis of Warsaw, Charles H. Myers of Cleveland, Ohio; George F. Myers, Jr of Midland and Virginia F. Ladika of Terre Haute; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Mr. Myers was preceded in death by one child who died at birth and two sisters and one brother, Mrs. William B. Ramey and Mrs. Homer Long of Crawfordsville and Charles Harry Myers of Lafayette. The funeral will be at the McClanahan Funeral Home at Jasonville and burial at Midland Cemetery Monday. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday night.
