MYERS, Ray "Don"

Ray “Don” Myers of Waveland passed away at his residence Wednesday where he, his wife and family lived for 63 years. He was born April 23, 1924 in Alamo to Roy and Stella Myers. He was married to Bettie Anne Whitecotton from Yountsville for 77 years. They were married at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 1944. They were honored as the oldest living married couple in Indiana. Bettie still survives. From Fort Sill Don was deployed overseas during WWII. His tour included participation in the Battle of the Bulge as a wire stringer. Don was a devout Christian, praising God every day. He was a long time member of Freedom Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. Most of his working career was spent as a Farm Bureau Co-Op manager at the Browns Valley elevator. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and working at his pond property, gardening, and watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports. Don was a steadfast family man raising nine children; Judy Acton of Lebanon, Phil Myers of Waveland, Kevin Myers of Crawfordsville, Rick Myers of Crawfordsville, Jayne Surface of Columbus, IN, Kyle Myers of Waveland, twins Jeff Myers of Avon and Jannie Myers (deceased), and Darren Myers of Waveland. Also in the family are 27 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Freedom Baptist Church in his name, PO Box 175, Waveland, IN 47989. There will be graveside services only at the Freedom Cemetery on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Please adhere to covid protocol.
