Covington, Ind. (CNS) — James H. (Jimmy) MyCroft, 84, of Stringtown, died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday (June 18, 1967) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville where he had been a patient six hours. He was born July 23, 1882, in Wabash Township, Fountain County, the son of James Henry Sr. and Elizabeth Jones MyCroft. He married Hulda Nelson Oct. 27, 1904, who survives. Also surviving are eight sons, Dean of Covington Route 3, Willard and Vanis, both of Covington Route 1, Herschel, Earl, Luther, all of Covington, Elroy of West Lebanon, and Rudolph of La Mirada, Calif. Two daughters, Mrs. Norma Sammons of Wichita Falls, Tex., and Mrs. Wilma Hay of Covington; 33 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a half sister, Mrs. Alice Henderson of Terre Haute. He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a half sister, and two half brothers. He was a life resident of Wabash Township and lived in the same house where he was born all his life. He was a coal miner most of his life and was employed at Harrison Steel in Attica for 12 years. He retired from Harrison in 1954. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. Burial will be in Coal Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Lowder officiating. The body is at the funeral home where friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening. --typed by Walt W

A native and life resident of Walnut Township(sic) in Fountain County, he was born July 23, 1882, a son of James Henry and Elizabeth Jones Mycroft. He was married to Hulda Nelson Oct. 27, 1904. Mr. Mycroft was a coal miner for many years. In 1954 he retired after working 12 years at Harrison Steel Casting at Attica. Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Sammons of Wichita Falls, Tex., and Mrs. Wilma Hay of Covington; eight sons, Dean of Rt. 3, Willard of Rt. 1, Herschel of Covington, Earl of Covington, Vanis of Rt. 1, Luther of Covington, Elroy of West Lebanon and Rudolph of La Mirada, Calif.; 33 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild and a half-sister, Mrs. Alice Anderson of Terre Haute.
