Musser - Myrtle

At 4 o’clock Monday morning, March 18, little Myrtle, aged five years, five months and twenty two days, the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Musser, passed from her earthly home to the world of bliss where sorrow and suffering are unknown. She fell a victim to that dread disease, lung fever, after an illness of nearly two months. Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 20, by Mr. Birdcell, of Waynetown. The remains were interred at the McCormick Cemetery.  Little Myrtle was a sweet and amiable child. A loving mother and father bitterly mourn their loss—a vacancy never to be filled. She is not dead, but living in the mansions of celestial felicity only called by the good Master. She responded with a smile of content.

Myrtle, daughter of Augustus and Lydia Musser, departed this life at the home of her parents, 3 ¼ miles northwest of Alamo, March 19, after an illness of six weeks of intense suffering from lung fever, aged five years, six months and 23 days.  Myrtle was born Sept. 26, 1891, and was a very bright and promising little girl, the idol of the household and loved by all who knew her. Everything that friends and medical skill could do was done, but in vain. The reaper whose name is death, with his keen sickle, reaped the golden grain. She bore her sufferings very patiently and was conscious until Thursday morning about 4 o’clock when our little friend passed away, leaving a silent home, a bereaved father and mother, three brothers and one sister, who have the sympathy of the community. But our loss, which is very great, is her eternal gain.  Friday at 12 o’clock quite a large crowd assembled at the residence to pay their last respects to the departed one, after which the remains were taken to the McCormick Cemetery, where friends were permitted to view the remains again. The pallbearers were four girl cousins of the deceased, viz: Misses Blanche Sloan, Maud Musser, Lizzie Spinning, Lula Hughes. The casket was beautifully decorated with cut flowers, the gift of loving friends. - s
