Murphy - Eliza Parish

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Friday 27 March 1896

Mrs. Eliza Murphy was born in Shelby County, Ind., Feb. 11, 1843; was married to Wm Murphy in January, 1893. She departed this life March 23, 1896, aged 53 years, 1 month and 11 days.  She was the mother of six children; two have preceded her to that better land, one in infancy and one in early manhood. Her husband and four children were by her when she passed away, though bowing to the will of God, they still deeply mourn that one so dear should be taken from them. Her maiden name was Eliza Parish and was one of a family of 14 children. Her mother and 9 brothers and sisters still survive her. For seven long years Mrs. Murphy has been an invalid, suffering untold agonies, and yet, through it all, she was patient. When nearing the close of her life, she said she was resigned to fate and was glad to go and died triumphant in a Savior’s love.  For the last 36 years, she has been an earnest, faithful member of the Christian Church.  The funeral services were held at the Main Street Church in Darlington, March 25, 1896, conducted by Rev. Kelley, the pastor there. Interment was at the Odd Fellow Cemetery. She had lived a life of spotless purity, was a loving wife and mother and a kind neighbor. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. The bereaved friends and family have the sympathy of the entire neighborhood in their sad affliction.
