LINDEN—Clarence A. (Dutch) Murphy, 65, Linden postmaster for 24 years and life resident of Linden, died at 12:15 a.m. Sunday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette. He was born in Linden on Oct. 24, 1900, a son of Timothy B. and Mary C. Owen Murphy. Mr. Murphy was never married. Prior to becoming postmaster, he was employed by Crabbs, Reynolds & Taylor Co. for several years. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Crawfordsville, a 20-year member of the National League of Postmasters, a member of Linden American Legion Post No. 306 and a long-time member of the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are three brothers, Dr. Lewis J. Murphy of Dallas, Tex., Herbert L. Murphy of Lafayette and Fred S. Murphy of Los Angeles. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Msgr. Henry Ward officiating. A rosary service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Helms Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Helms Funeral Chapel.

LINDEN — Funeral services for Clarence A. Murphy were held at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Crawfordsville. Rt. Rev. Henry Ward said the requiem mass. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Crawfordsville. Pallbearers were Robert Royer, John Bush, Wesley White and A. B. Coopman, all of Linden, Ed Ross of Crawfordsville and Robert Stephen of New Richmond. Mr. Murphy, Linden postmaster, died at a Lafayette hospital.

Clarence A. (Dutch) Murphy, age 65, Linden postmaster for the past 24 years, died at 12;15 a. m. Sunday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been admitted at 10:30 p.m. Saturday after being stricken ill. Born in Linden, he had lived in this community all his life. Prior to becoming postmaster, he had worked several years for Crabbs, Reynolds, Taylor Grain Co. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Army as a post clerk. He was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church at Crawfordsville, a member of Linden American Legion Post 306, a 20-year member of the National Legion of Postmasters and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are three brothers, Dr. Lewis Murphy of Dallas, Tex.; Herbert Murphy, Lafayette Funeral director and Fred Murphy of Los Angeles, Calif.
