Robert T. Murdock was born December 15, 1886, and departed this life March 10, 1902, at 1:30 o’clock a.m. Robby was always a kind and affectionate boy at home and the number of his schoolmates who were present at the funeral gave proof that he had won love and respect from those not his relatives. He is spoken of by his instructors and citizens in general as an exceptionally good boy
In the closing days of his illness his mind often wandered and at such moments he spoke of the farm and its general interests. He thought of himself as working the horses and working with the flocks and herds, but no profane or slangy words passed his lips. He talked often of his schoolmates of both schools that he had attended. One day during his illness he said: “Well let us sing,” and he began to softly hum a tune, but it was so low his loved ones could not understand what it was.
The interment of the remains occurred at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at 11:15 Tuesday morning. The services were conducted by Rev. Silas Mosteller, pastor of the Christian Church, who took for his text “Behold I am alive forevermore and I have the keys of death.”
The funeral was largely attended by the young people who were all his friends and came out to bid him a long farewell. The parents and brothers and sisters have the sympathy of the whole congregation. -s
