Waynetown - Charlie Merrell Munns, 75, a Waynetown native and a retired sales representative for Detrex Chemical Co. died at 7 p.m. Monday in the Methodist Hospital Mayo Clinic at Rochester, Minn. He was a member of the Crawfordsville Methodist Church, Waynetown Masonic Lodge, Murat SHrine Temple at Indianapolis, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and the Optimist Club at Columbia City. He was born July 20, 1898 at Waynetown a son of Charlie B. and Etta J. Merrell Munns. He graduated from Waynetown HS and later attended Wabash College and Purdue University. His wife Hazel died Dec 31, 1962. Mr. Munns had retired in 1963 after 28 years with Detrex. Surviving are a brother, William D. Munns of Bloomington; a half-sister, Mrs. Marion McGhehey of Topeka, Kans, a stepbrother, Lloyd Ellis of Veedersburg and a step-sister, Mrs. Herman Hamm of Hammond. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Smith Funeral Home at Columbia City with Rev. Clark E. Hobby officiating.
