John Allen Mullens,53, of Newtown, formerly of Crawfordsville, died Friday at the Big Pine Golf Course, Attica, of a heart attack. He worked as a machinist for Harrison Steel Castings, Attica.  He formerly worked at Von Duprin Inc, Indianapolis and at W&W Fabricating and Hudson Machine Tool, both in Crawfordsville.  He was a member of Moose Lodge No 1482, Attica and he attended the Mellott Church of Christ. He graduated from Farmland High School, Muncie.

Mullens was born Sept 8, 1943 in Windsor, Ind to Carl and Mina Warmuth Mullens. He was married to Penelope J. Roach Hegg Jan 28, 1978 at Danville, Ill. She survives.  Also surviving are two sons, John A. Mullens, Jr. and Kyle R. Walker, both of Greencastle; a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Kittina) Jones of Attica; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Pat) Goldman of Muncie; Mrs. LaVera Jester of Yorktown and Mrs. Lonnie (Della Joan) ZanScyoc of Pennsylvania; two brothers, James Mullens of California and Thomas Mullens of Springfield, Ill and four grandchildren.  He was preceded by his parents and by a sister, LaVonne Sullivan.

The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Maus Funeral Home, Attica with Rev. Richard Carty officiating.  Burial will be at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m. Monday.  Memorial may be made to the Moose Heart Foundation. - kbz
