Mullen - Silas K.

Confined to his bed 7 months suffering from cancer of the stomach, Silas K. Mullen, well known and highly respected farmer died at the home of his son, John Mullen, two miles SE of Darlington, Wednesday afternoon. The deceased, who was past 65 years of age at his death, was a veteran of the Civil War, having seen active service with the 150th Indiana Volunteers of Crawfordsville. On returing from the war, Mr. Mullen resided in Darlington for some time, where he was sexton of the IOOF cemetery. Since that time, his residence has been in Franklin Township. Mr. Mullen was married in 1868 to Emma Leibett. Four children, all of whom survive were born to the union: Frank of Henryville; John of Darlington; Julian who is in Canada and Anna, who now resides in Lebanon. Funeral services will be held from the South Christian Church in Darlington at 10:30 Friday morning with burial in IOOF Cemetery. The Darlington Masonic Lodge of which the deceased was a member will have charge of the service at the grave.
