VEEDERSBURG - Mrs. Kate Mullen, 81, of Veedersburg, Ind., died early Friday, June 25, at her home. She had been ill for the past year. Born Feb. 5, 1890, on a farm near Veedersburg, she was the daughter of James R. and Alice Van Devanter Songer. She was married in 1908 to Luther Mullen, who died in 1940. Mrs. Mullen had resided in the Veedersburg area her entire life. She attended the Dice Corner School and was a member of the New Century Church. She had attended the United Brethren Church in Veedersburg and was a charter member of the Bonebrake Cemetery League. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Unity) Lightle and Mrs. Robert (Helen) Janeway, both of Veedersburg, and Mrs. Walter (Luceil) Hanson of Le Claire, Ia.; two sons, Carl of Veedersburg and Gordon of Lansing, Ill.; a brother Roy Songer of Covington; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence; two brothers and two grandchildren. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Parham Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vernon Souders officiating. Burial was in Bonebrake Cemetery.   --typed by Walt W
