Waynetown - John L. Mullen, 73, prominent farmer, died at his home south of here at 4 a.m. Wednesday. He had been ill for a week. Mullen had been a farmer in this area all of his life until he retired 5 years ago. He was a 50-year member and the first president of the Wayne Township Farm Bureau. He also was a 50-year member of the Wayneotwn Masonic Lodge and wa a member of the Chrisitian Union Church. Born April 30, 1892, in Waynetown, he was the son of William H. and Sarepta Ellen Huss (sic) Mullen. He was married Sept 4, 1910, at Crawfordsville to Mary Little. He was graduated from Waynetown HS in 1910. The survivors include the wife , a daughter, Mrs. Eizabeth Kirkpatrick of Waynetown who is art teacher in the Tuttle Junior High School in Crawfordsville; two grandsons, John E. Kirkpatrick of Indianapolis and Lee Kirkpatrick of Riviera Beach, Calif; a brother, Jess Mullen of Rt 2, Waynetown, two sisters, Mrs. Lena Davis of Rt 6, Crawfordsville and Mrs. Hazel Thompson of Rt. 1, Waynetown a number of nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Roy and Homer mullen preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. John E. Servies in charge. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday
