George Elmer Myers, 82, retired New Ross
farmer, died Friday morning in Culver Hospital. He had been in failing
health the past year. Born Jan. 11, 1876, at Ladoga, Mr. Myers was the
son of Daniel and Catherine Yenawine Myers. He was married twice, first
to Eliza BOWMAN in 1900. Following her death in 1955, he married Lockie
HARVEY, who survives. They were married in Lebanon. Mr. Myers, who was a
prominent farmer in the New Ross community most of his life, was a
member of the New Ross Christian Church. Surviving, besides the widow,
are three stepdaughters, Mrs. J. M. Kessler of Crawfordsville, Mrs.
Wilbur Dunaway of Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Russell Ramsey of Thorntown; a
brother, William Myers of Mace; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Chaffin of
Ladoga and Mrs. Clara Smith of Crawfordsville; four step-grandchildren,
one step great-grandchildren [sic] and several nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Funeral services
will be held at 2 pm Sunday in the New Ross Christian Church, with
burial at the New Ross Cemetery. Rev. Kenneth Arnold, pastor of the
church, will officiate. The body will lie in state at the church one
hour preceding the rites. Friends may call at the Russell E. Brown
