Walter B. Mullikin, 74-year-old
painter, suffered a fatal heart attack about 3:40 p.m. Thursday while
painting a house at 1806 Edgewood Drive. Mr. Mullikin, who lived at 1401
W. Main St., was born Aug. 3, 1885, west of New Market, the son of
William D. and Sarah Bennett Mullikin. He was twice married. His first
marriage was to Inez Bratton. She died July 19, 1923. His second
marriage was to Ruth Fletcher. They were wed July 10, 1926. He was a
member of the old Union Presbyterian Church and farmed most of his life
in the Mace and Linnsburg communities. He retired from farming in 1937
and moved to Crawfordsville. He had been a painter for the past several
years. Survivors include the wife; a daughter, Mrs. Leslie Stout of
Crawfordsville; a step-daughter, Mrs. James Neff of Alexandria, Va.; a
sister, Mrs. Mary McCauley of Crawfordsville; five grandchildren and a
great-grandson. The body was taken to the Hunt and Son Funeral Home.
