Moss - Cecil

Cecil R. Moss, 73, retired state bank examiner and resident of Crawfordsville for the past 22 years, died at 8 p.m. Sunday at the 10th Street VA hospital in Indianapolis. He had been ill since February and hospitalized the past three weeks. Born Sept 15, 1893, in Salem, Ind, Mr. Moss was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Moss. He was reared in Salem are and was graduated from New Albany Business College in 1910. After graduating from business college, Mr. Moss worked for American Express on the Monon Railroad route at Elletsville and then at Orleans where he was transferred in 1911. He joined the staff of the Citizens State Bank at Orleans in 1915. He married the former Kathryn Worrell in Orleans June 19, 1917. Moss enlisted in the US Army in November 1917, serving in the Quartermaster Corp. He was promoted to sergeant in the corp in 1918. After his discharge from the service he returned to the Orleans bank where he served as cashier for 15 years. He was employed by the State Department Financial Institutions in April of 1934 as a bank examiner. He retired in April 1967. Moss and his family moved to Crawfordsville in 1945. He was a 50-year member of the Orleans Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the Orleans American Legion Post. He was a member of the Orleans Christian Church. Moss was preceded in death by a sister. Survivors include the widow of 607 W. Pike , twin sons, Dr. Richard W. Moss of Milwaukee and Dr. Robert Moss of Pittsburg, Pa; 7 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Bruce Bundy of Salem, Ind. Funeral services will be held in Orleans Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Ochs Funeral Home. Burial will be in Orleans Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Tuesday.
