The many friends of Samuel A. Morrison in this city will regret to hear of his death which occurred Wednesday at Pasadena, Calif. Mr. Morrison was in Wabash College four years, graduating in 1890. He was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and very popular in society during his residence here. The following account is from the Indianapolis Sentinel:

“Samuel A. Morrison, assistant cashier of the Fletcher National Bank and president of the Hamilton-Dynes lumber company, died Wednesday at Pasadena, Calif., of consumption after a lingering illness of over a year. The arrangements for the funeral have not been made. It is not known yet whether the body will be buried here or at the old home at LaPorte.

Mr. Morrison was in his thirty third year, and had been actively connected for several years with the banking interests of the city and state. He was secretary of the Indiana Bankers’ Association for several years, and also of the Indianapolis Bankers’ Association. He was born at LaPorte, where his father was a prominent banker and lumber merchant.

Mr. Morrison left this city Dec. 31, 1900, for San Antonio, Tex., in search of health. He stayed there till June last, when he joined a party that was making a horseback tour through the mountains. He was with this party but a few days when he was compelled to stop. He was taken to a hotel and a special car carried him under care of physicians to California, where he had since remained.

After the death of his father, his mother married a Plymouth banker named Buck, who has since died. She lives at LaPorte. Two brothers live here—Robert E. Morrison of the Victoria, who succeeds Mr. Morrison at Fletcher’s Bank, and Charles Morrison, who is now making a tour of the world for his health and is now in India.” -s
