Mrs. Laura Adeline Morrison, 88, a resident of Labette County for 67 years, died at 10:20 o'clock last night at her home at 2705 Clark. She had been in failing health since March, 1947. Laura Adeline Pefley was born March 21, 1860 at Ladoga, Montgomery, Ind. As a child she moved with her parents to northwestern Missouri where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Phillip Albert Morrison Feb. 24, 1878 at Gallatin, Daviess, Mo., and three years later they came to Kansas, settling on a farm near Altamont. They resided there until 1903 when they moved to Parsons. He later was employed by the Katy Railroad as a carpenter in the cabinet department, working there nine years. He died June 15, 1914. Mrs. Morrison was a member of the Central Ave. Christian church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Frame, Parsons, and Mrs. Clara Crenshaw, Grass Valley, Cal.; five sons, Oscar B., John W., Luther Q., and Ernest T, all of Parsons, and Irvin I., Oklahoma City, Ok.; two sisters, Mrs. L.W. Jones, Topeka, and Mrs. A. Armitage, Oklahoma City, Ok.; one brother, Frank Pefley, Medford, Ore.; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the Rude Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Elston Cemetery near Altamont. The body lies in state at the funeral home.
