L.H. (Ham) Morris, 70, died at Culver Hospital at 4:15 a.m. Thursday as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage he suffered Wednesday night. Mr. Morris, who had been employed at the Community Motor Sales 112 W. Market had planned to retire Friday after 10 years of service. Mr. Morris was born June 6, 1885 the son of Daniel S. and Meda Miller Morris. His parents had charge of the old toll gate west of the city at the time of his birth. Mr. Morris was first married in 1915 Emma Clark whose death occurred in 1920. He was married again in 1925 to Nettie Mae Cope who died June 15, 1955. Prior to working for Community Motor Sales, Mr. Morris was employed at the Farmers Coop Creamery for 23 years. He was a member of the Mt. Zion EUB Church. For the past several months he had lived at 100 E. Franklin. The survivors include three sons, Louis Daniel Morris, Carl D. Morris and Ben J. Morris, all of Crawfordsville; five sisters, Mrs. Katherine Gosnell, Indianapolis, Mrs. Helena Wills, Crawfordsville with whom he lived; Mrs. Lois Fenton, Ferndale, Mich; Mrs. Roberta Meinhardt, Fulton, Mo and Mrs. Mary Mikkola, Detroit; a half sister, Mrs. Louise Hudson< Cedar Rapids, Iowa two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Frank Morris and Dan Morris and daughter, Mildred Louise Morris preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Proffitt & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. John R. Servies in charge. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday. -- kbz
