March 7, p 1 – The funeral of Joseph Morgan will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the residence on Crawford Street. Interment at Oak Hill.

– March 8th – Joseph Knight Morgan was born in Shelby County, Kentucky on January 10, 1829. His first wife passed to the higher life when they were comparatively young leaving him with two daughters and a son. In 1865 he was married to Miss Nancy Stringer. In 1874 they moved to this city where they have since resided. The three children, their beloved stepmother, two brothers and a sister of the deceased survive. Joseph Morgan was one of those quiet, unpretentious men whose religion was to do good as he had opportunity, first to his own household, then to those for whom he labored, and his neighbors. He was a man of a kind heart, pure speech and unquestioned integrity. He will be missed upon our streets, for he was the oldest and best known teamster in the city and enjoyed the distinction of having hauled the sand and the building of every church in the city with possibly one or two of the older and small buildings. - transcribed by kbz
