E.H. (Harry) Morgan, an old soldier and a man familiar to most of the city's inhabitants, died at five Tuesday evening at the home of his son, Charles Morgan on Spring street. The cause of death was the infirmities of old age. Mr. Morgan has been confined to his bed for three months past and his condition had been serious of some time.
The deceased was a member of the local branch of the G.A.R. having served with General M.D. Mason in Co. G. Tenth Indiana Regiment. He was born in Cincinnati, O., but came to this city when young. When war broke out he enlisted under General Manson, who was the captain of Co. G. Mr. Morgan was made first lieutenant in the company. Later captain was advanced and James H. Watson was made captain of Mr. Morgan's company.
During his long life in Crawfordsville Mr. Morgan engaged in the carpenter trade until weakened health caused him to retire a few years ago. He had been an active member of McPherson's post. Later he filled the office of adjutant. He had a large number of friends in the city and county. Funeral services will be held from the son's home at ten Friday morning in charge of Rev. W.H. Fertich of Romney. The ritualistic services of the G.A.R. will be given by the post members. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. – thanks to Kim H
