Courtney A. MORGAN died at his home west of Waveland at half past 11 on Tuesday morning. He had been in poor health for some time. Death resulted from a cerebral hemorrhage the previous day. Funeral services at the Presbyterian Church in Marshall on Wednesday were in charge of Rev. John Servies. Burial in the Methodist Cemetery at Marshall. He was the son of Joseph and Amanda Morgan and was born December 20, 1880. He first married Emma Lough Rusk who died in 1927. In 1930 he married Mrs. Nettie Lockard of Louisville, Ky who survives him as does one daughter, Naomi and a step daughter, Delma Lockard. There are two brothers, Cecil of Crawfordsville, and Stanley of this place and one sister, Mrs. Carl Smith of Byron.

Last rites are held for Courtney Morgan Marshall, Aug. 4th, 1933 Funeral services were held here Thurs. afternoon at the Presbyt. Church for Courtney A. Morgan, 52, who died at his home near here Tues. morning following several months illness. Mr. Morgan was a well-known stockman and farmer and had been a member of the Howard township school advisory board for several years. Rev. John Servies of Crawfordsville, had charge of the funeral. Mrs. L.F. Jackson sang, "When they Ring the Golden Bells" and Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Bradford Warren sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Nearer, My God, to Thee." The pall bearers were Moses Mitchell, Jesse Mitchell, Robert Mitchell, Lon Payne, Arkel Alexander and Claude Durham. Flower bearers were nieces of the deceased: Kathryn Smith, Betty Morgan, Maude Morgan and Nina Jean Rusk. Burial was made in the Bethany Cemetery here. Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were Walter Kessler of Missouri, Sam Gooding of Tuscola, Ill; Mr. and Mrs. Ransom Wagoner of Hillsboro; Austin Barker of Wingate; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Morgan of Crawfordsville; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rusk & family of Veedersburg; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Starkey and Mr. and Mrs. John Barker of Cates; Mr and Mrs Carl Smith & Family of Byron; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Morgan & family and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Durham of Waveland; Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Gooding, Noah Gooding, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Wagoner, Mrs. Maria Newkirk and Mrs. Mary Algood of Wallace.
