Wm. Moore was born in Clinton county, Ohio, March 4, 1830. He departed this life Monday morning, May 3, 1897. He leaves a wife and eight children, four sons and four daughters and a number of grandchildren and friends to mourn his loss.
He was first married to Miss Therna E. Lee, in Ohio on Sept. 10, 1853. Eleven children blessed their union, and three of them have already preceded him to the better land, his wife dying Dec. 7, 1882.  He was again remarried to Martha Tilley, March 31, 1887, who still survives him. He was a member of no church but always took the Bible as his guide. He was raised by the Friend Quakers and held to that belief until the time of his death. He was a sufferer from cancer in the mouth for the past two years, but was not confined to his bed until about six months ago. He bore all his pain with the best of patience and was only ready to go to his Maker to "doeth all things well. The funeral was conducted at the Christian church at Smartsburg Tuesday evening at 2 o'clock by Rev. Frank Quigg. Interment at the Smartsburg cemetery. - thanks to Kim H for this one

Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Christian Church occurred the funeral of Mr. Moore. His sufferings have been great but Monday the angel of death came and bore him away to the better land. He leaves four girls and five boys and a large host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. Mr. Moore was born in Benton County Ohio in 1830.The wife and children have the sympathy of the entire community. He was laid to rest in the Smartsburg cemetery. - kbz
