Mrs. Minnie Moore, 69, widow of
Alexander Moore, died Thursday morning in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ben
Surface, near New Market. She had been in failing health three years, and seriously
ill two weeks. Born Nov 3, 1886 at Somerset, Ky, Mrs. Moore was the daughter of
Emory and Sarah Grimsley Copus. She married Alexander Moore Nov 4, 1908. They
were married at Waveland. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Church of Christian
Crawfordsville. She moved to this city from Waveland in 1918 and lived here
until 1946. Her residence was at 1302 W. Main St. Surviving besides the
daughter at whose home she died are the son-in-law, Ben Surface; four
grandchildren, Jean Ann and Paul Benson Surface; Phyllis Moore of Dayton, Ohio
and Prof. Charles Crume of Wesleyan University, Middleton, Conn; five sisters,
Mrs. Claude Stevenson of New Market; Mrs. Claude Jacob of Harrington, Kan; Mrs.
Mittie Davidson of Indianapolis; Mrs. Ruth Smith of New Castle and Mrs. Mary
Reynolds of Hillsboro; stepmother, Mrs. Mallie Fox of New Market; and several
nieces and nephews. Besides the husband, she was preceded in death by a son, A.
Paul Moore; two infants and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 2 p..
Saturday at Proffitt & Sons Funeral Home with burial in the Moore Cemetery
near Waveland, Rev. Fred Walker of Chattanooga, Tenn will officiate. Friends
may call at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie
Moore, who died Thursday were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Proffitt &
Sons Funeral Home, Brother Fred B. Walker officiating. Burial was in Moore
Cemetery. Pallbearers were David McCay, Donald Surface, Stanley Walls, Ralph Stevenson,
David Brown and Elmer Davis. The flower bearers were Bonnie Thomas; Margaret
Simpson; Pauline Bayless; Ruth Ann
Surface; Joe Brown; Ernestine Surface; Jane McCay; Mary Anderson; Margaret Ann
Priebe; Laura Bell Smith; Verna McKee; Mary Demoret; Myla Sayler and Irene
Davis. Donald Ratliff of Indianapolis sang, Softly and Tenderly, The Sweet By
& By and Safe in the Arms of Jesus.
