Moore - Emma Jane Patton

Mrs. Emma Jane Moore died at her home on East Main Street at ten on Sunday morning, after lying at the point of death for several days. Death resulted from inflammation of the pancreas. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.B. Johnson. Burial at Union Cemetery. Mrs. Moore was the daughter of David H. and Margaret Ann (Wilhite) Patton and was born in Crawfordsville July 29, 1853. When she was sixteen she came to Waveland where, with the exception of a short time on a farm near here, she has since lived. She married John T. Moore March 11, 1870, who died December 14, 1904. To them were born seven children: Mrs. George M. Frye of Terre Haute; Mrs. Claude McIntire of Waveland; Edward M. Moore of Rushville; Robert S. Moore, Marcus de Lafayette Moore, LeRoy Patton Moore and John A. Logan Moore of Waveland. There are eleven grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Wm. J. Patton of Crawfordsville, and one sister, Mrs. Charles McCullough of Ft. Worth, Texas; two half brothers, George T. Patton of New Richmond, and Hugh D. Patton of Crawfordsville; and three half sisters Mrs. Carrie Foster and Mrs. Mollie Bilbo of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Bert VanCleave of Crawfordsville. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She was a good neighbor and a kind mother who made it her one business to care for her children. She will be greatly missed by them and the community.
