Dr. Charles E. Moore, formerly of Russellville, died in Kokomo shortly after midnight, Sunday after an illness of a few hours. The body was brought here on Tuesday evening and interred in the family Cemetery, east of town, after funeral services at the home of his brother, Allen Moore. These were in charge of Rev. C. H. Hickman of Rolling Prairie, a personal friend of the deceased, assisted by Rev. W. H. Fertich. Dr. Moore was the son of Samuel Moore and was born on a farm east of town, October 11, 1871. He joined the M. E. Church during the pastorate of Rev. H. L. Kindig. He entered DePauw University in the winter of 1889, where he remained the greater part of three years acquitting himself with honor. He then entered Rush Medical College Chicago, graduating in 1895. He married Miss Mollie Nicholson on August 24, 1891. He engaged in the practice of medicine at Russellville and was meeting with success in a profession for which he showed great talent. But unfortunately, and insiduous drug habit fixed itself on him, and his life thenceforward was a series of downward steps. He moved to Rolling Prairie, and there for a while did better, only to repeat the downward career. At the time of his death he was working in a rod mill in Kokomo. All must regret the untimely close of a life that promised so much. He leaves a wife; a daughter Ruth, aged eleven; five brothers and three sisters.
