Waynesboro Jan 22 – William Aaron Moon, 71 of Rockfish Valley died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Spilman, this morning at 6 o’clock. He passed away quietly in his sleep as the result of a heart attack sustained during the night. He is survived by his wife, who resides near Afton; four sons, Wilbur A. Mogadore, Ohio, Herbert Royce, Ft Wayne Ind; William Arthur, Richmond; John R, Afton; four daughters, Mrs. Spilman and Mrs. T. Marshall Freed, Waynesboro; Mrs. Stanley I. Cooper, New Rochelle, NY and Mrs. Robert W. Bruce, Crawfordsville, Ind. 16 grandchildren also survive. He was born Oct 5, 1869 at Famrer’s Institute, Ind son of Mr. and Mrs. James a. Moon. He married Maude E. Whitehead on May 23, 1893 and when he suffered a break in health in 1934 he and Mrs. Moon came to Virginia. He was an active Mason for more than 45 years and at the time of his death was a member of Montgomery Lodge No 50, AF&AM Crawfordsville Chapter No 40, Montgomery County No 34 and Crawfordsville Commandery No 25. Masonic services in charge of Lee Lodge No 209 of Waynesboro will be held Friday in tribute to Mr. Moon. Funeral services will be held Friday at two o’clock from the Etter Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. PE Brame, pastor of Rockfish Valley Field of Baptist Churches and Rev. WG Burch, pastor of Batesville Methodist charge. Interment will be in Rodes Church cemetery in Nelson County.
