John Philip Moon, 52, of Kingsport, Tenn., former employe of R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. here and at Chicago, died Sunday in North Carolina Baptist Hospital at Winston-Salem. Mr. Moon spent most of his working life in the printing industry, beginning with Donnelley and joining the Kingsport Press as vice president of sales for the midwestern region in 1969. He was later promoted to vice president and general sales manager for Kingsport Press. His last position was that of vice president of marketing in the entire Arcata National Book Group of Kingsport Press. He was born at Fairmount and was graduated from Indiana University with a degree in business management. Surviving are the widow, Margaret Grier Moon; a daughter, Margaret Ann of Marina Del Ray, Calif.; a son, William Joseph of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. R. E. Moon Sr. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Martha Moon VanDeusen of Glenview, Ill., and two brothers, Ralph E. Jr, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Robert L. of Atlanta, Ga. A litany for the dead will be observed Tuesday night at the Church of the Holy Family at Park Forest, Ill., with requiem mass celebrated in the church Wednesday. Burial is to be at Monmouth, Ill., Thursday morning. Memorial contributions may be made to charity or the American Cancer Society. – jlr
