Mrs. Sanford Moody died in Culver Hospital, Friday evening, following an operation a few hours previous for gall stones. Her heart developed a fatal weakness and she gradually sank. Funeral services at the home at two on Sunday afternoon were conducted by Rev. JC Brengel. Interment at Maple Ridge. Katie Thersa Hastaday eldest daughter of John L and Margaret Hastady was born in Crawfordsville October 26, 1871 and departed this life January 19, 1912 being at the time of her death aged 40 years 2 months and 24 days. She was untied in marriage with Sanford N. Moody October 23, 1890. Seven children came to bless this union, one preceding her to the better land. Besides the husband, the children that are left to mourn her untimely taking away are Edward N, aged 20; Clem L 18; Paul H 13; George S 11; Margaret 7 and Katherine, 2. She also leaves a mother and four sisters and three brothers. Her father and youngest sister, Mrs. Abbie Pitman passing on just four years ago. The sisters are Mrs. Clem Cole of Newark, Ohio; Mrs. Joe Roundtree; Mrs. Jesse Stevens and Mrs. Harry Holland of Crawfordsville. The brothers are: Henry Hastaday of Shelby, Ohio; Edward and Will Hastaday of Crawfordsville. Mrs. Moody was a kind and loving mother, spending all of her energies in the uplift of an interesting family, using her utmost efforts in trying to equip them for the higher duties of life, a Christian not only in ideals but in pratice. - transcribed by kbz
