MELLOTT — Robert F. (Bob) Montgomery, 77, Mellott, died at 10:55 p.m. Aug. 14, 1999, in the emergency room of St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. Born April 16, 1922, in Lousville, Ky., he was the son of Sandford and Grace Wise Montgomery. He married Lillian Harned July 3, 1943, in Salem, Ore., who survives. A graduate of Louisville (Ky.) High School, he was a former Scout Master in Mellott, and was a member of the Quigle-Palin American Legion in Newtown. He was also a former member of the Mellott Volunteer Fire Department. He served in the U. S. Army from Dec. 1, 1942 to Oct. 9, 1945, with the 104th Timberwolf Division in Northern France, Belgium and the Rhineland. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a retired carpenter. Survivors, other than his wife, include: daughter, Diane Montgomery, Crawfordsville; sons, Robin (Peggy) Montgomery, Palatine, Ill., Mike (Bobbi) Montgomery, Demorst, Ga., Don (Marcia) Montgomery, Indianapolis; sister, Rita (Bob) Wright, Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were noon Tuesday at the Maus Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Rob Rixman officiating. Burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the World War II Memorial Fund. – jlr
