Smartsburg, Aug 5 -- Mrs. John H. Monroe passed quietly away at 5 o'clock Monday a.m. after an illness of several months. Mary Ann Buxton was born in Montezuma, Mercer County Ohio Nov 20, 1846 and was married at the same place to John H,. Monroe, Dec 2, 1865. To this union were born 9 children, four dying in infancy. Early in life she became a member of the UB Church and has ever lived a quiet Christian life. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother and kind friend. Besides husband she leaves five children Rolley and Gusta of Crawfordsville; Zura of Waveland and Mrs. Albert Chesterson of Wesley, Mrs. Wm. Chesterson of Linnsburg one brother, Millard F. Buxton of Wingate, 15 grandchildren, two great grandchildren as well as a host of friends. The funeral will be held at Smartsburg Christian Church Wednesday a.m. at 10:00 in charge of Rev. Elmer Mater of Crawfordsville. Burial at Mace Cemetery - typed and donated by kbz
