Crawfordsville – Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Hayes Moloney were held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church Friday with a solemn requiem high mass sung by the Rev. William Hayes Moloney, CSC of Austin, Texas, her son.  Rev. James Donahue, superior general of the Congregation of the Holy Cross, delivered the sermon.  Mrs. Moloney, 76, died of pneumonia.  Besides her priest-son, she leaves three other children: Justin J. Moloney, attorney and well-known basketball official; Miss Elizabeth Maloney of Crawfordsville and Mrs. LL Roberts, Evansville. - kbz

Col. Louis L. Roberts, city attorney Wednesday received word of the death of his mother-in-law, Mrs. James S. Molony, 76, at her home, 706 East Binford Street in Crawfordsville.  Mrs. Roberts had been at the bedside several days.  Death following a long illness occurred at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.  Mrs. Molony had visited in this city several times, having last been here in the fall as guest of Mr. and Mrs. Roberts.  At that time she suffered a severe illness from pneumonia.  Surviving in addition to the daughter, Mrs. Roberts are two sons, Rev. William H. Molony, CSC Vice President of St. Edwards college, Austin, Tex and Justin J. Molony, attorney in Crawfordsville and a daughter, Miss Elizabeth Molony attorney in Crawfordsville and a daughter, Miss Elizabeth Molony, Crawfordsville.  Funeral services will be held Friday morning at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Crawfordsville with interment in the Catholic cemetery there. Crawfordsville, Ind July 23 – Funeral services will be held Friday for Mrs. Mary Hayes Molony, age 77, mother of Justin J. Molony, former University of Notre Dame basketball player and widely known Big Ten basketball official, who died yesterday at her home here, following a long illness.  Mrs. Molony, widow of James S. Molony, Crawfordsville business man of a quarter of a century was born in County Limerick, Ireland, the daughter of William and Katherine Hayes. She came to America with her parents when a child. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and for many years was director of the church choir and soprano soloist.  She was also a member of the Rosary Society of the church.  Besides Justin Molony, three other children survive, the Rev. William Hayes Molony, CSC director of studies and registrar at St. Edward’s University, Austin, Tex; Miss Elizabeth Molony of this city; Mrs. Louis L. Roberts, Evansville. Two sisters also survive, Mrs. Sarah Clahan and Mrs. Anna Clahan of Linnsburg east of Crawfordsville. Rites will be held at St. Bernard’s Church Friday morning with burial at Calvary cemetery. – kbz
