DARLINGTON - Delbert Moffitt, 82, a resident of Darlington the past four years, died at 7:25 p.m. Monday in Culver hospital at Crawfordsville, where he had been a patient four days. Mr. Moffitt had been a farmer in this area until his retirement. He was a member of the Darlington Christian Church. He was educated here. A native of Thorntown, he was born Dec. 11, 1884, a son of Hugh and Anna (Laverty) Moffitt. He was married to May Coddington Feb. 14, 1904, in Thorntown. Surviving are the widow; a son, DeVon of near Waynetown; two daughters, Mrs. Donald Haffner of New Ross and Mrs. Roy Harper of Garfield; a sister, Mrs. Mable Woody of Darlington and 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bright Funeral Home here with Rev. Willard Eckroth officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may pay respects at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today. - typed by Chris M.
