Waynetown - Russell Lester Moffett, 52, a prominent Fountain County farmer, died Monday at 10:40 a.m. at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. In failing health for two weeks, he died of a coronary occlusion. At the time of his death, he was president of the Farmers Coop Creamery in Crawfordsville and diretor of soil conservation for this district. He was a member of the Purdue Ag Assn associated with the Guernsey Breeders Assn, a member of Fountain County Coop Assn, of which he was secreatary at one time, an active promoter of 4-H clubs and member of the Fountain County Farm Bureau of which he was president 7 years. Born on a farm 3 miles southwest of Waynetown March 5, 1903, he was the son of Henry and Mattie Campbell Moffett. On April 6, 1927, he married Opal Brown. A graduate of Waynetown HS, he was a member of Hillsboro Christian Church and Hillsboro Masonic Lodge. He took two short courses at Purdue. Survivors include the widow; a son, Lee at home; a daughter, Ruth a PU student and the mother who resides in Waynetown. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Grenard & Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown, with Rev. John R. Servies officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
